Celebrate Jesus

As I started the process of writing a Christmas song, my thoughts immediately went to the many families that will find it difficult to have their ‘normal’ Christmas this year.  Many Americans are without work, money is tight and times are hard. Maybe a loved one has died this year and the reality of only memories of years past remains. I found myself feeling a little sad when I was reminded by the Holy Spirit that there is much more to the celebration than just presents under the tree, sparkling lights, or any of the other traditions that we associate with this season.   I believe in Jesus but can easily get wrapped up in the ‘hoopla’ that surrounds Christmas.  It’s easy to focus on the things that have nothing to do with Him.  But what if I’m left without the outside, material things that I have come to love?  What if I don’t get what I want from the mall this year?  What if I find myself alone?  I still have my Savior.  And I’m really grateful.  I hope others will be able “throw down their heavy load” if they have one, and just focus on the one that is worth celebrating…Jesus!
